The efforts of New Zealand’s schools alone raise over $2 million for the 40 Hour Famine every year and Katikati College students worked hard last year to make their contribution.

The presentation focuses on Miranda a six year girl from Malawi. Miranda is the youngest of five children and she is being raised by her 15 year old brother as her parents died when she was very young. The family receive no government assistance and have poor housing and little food. To make matters worse Miranda’s only sister died of AIDs, leaving a small daughter behind to also be cared for by Miranda’s brother.
