Sanya Richards features in this 2008 Nike spot, “A Dream Deferred.”
Danny Glover narrates this powerful ad, with lines straight from a Langston Hughes poem, “A Dream Deferred”:
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore–
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over–
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?

This ad is part of the Nike ‘No excuses’ campaign and it features wheelchair basketball player Matt Scott rattling off a litany of excuses people give for not playing sports. Ultimately, though, Scott had the biggest excuse and declined to use it.
