As requested I have added another set of research questions to look at. The topic is ‘Representations of Conformity’. The texts used included American Beauty, Catcher in the Rye, The Handmaid’s Tale and Harrison Bergeron.
The questions are:
1- To what extent is the setting responsible for the level of conformity?
2- How does the level of conformity required in the society affect the characters in the text?
3- What similarities are evident between the texts and in the way that conformity is portrayed?
