In this chapter Grandma Lynn comes to stay to help the family prepare for the funeral. She also helps her daughter Abigail and her granddaughter Lindsey. She helps Lindsey choose clothes for the funeral and she teaches her about makeup. This is significant as it shows that Lindsey is making the transition to womanhood. The funeral of course is where people farewell Susie and let her go. It is also the time where the dead need to move on. This is hard because at Susie’s funeral there are the police and her killer. Things are unnatural and unfinished.
